Will Nokia Lumia be a success?

Nokia last year announced that it will ditch its rusting Symbian OS and embrace Windows Phone 7 on their next generation phones. After nearly an year Nokia revealed Lumia range of phones featuring Windows Phone Mango. The result is a mixed bag one side you have possibly the most fluid OS on the phone ever with no lags, no frame skipping etc... The animations and transitions are very smooth, pinch to zoom, rotation are really smooth. The home screen is really attractive and very different, overall the whole OS is very minimal and has almost no chrome. The build quality of Nokia Lumia 800 and 900 are top notch, clear Black AMOLED screen is vey bright. While on the other hand it is just like Apple a walled garden by Microsoft. You cannot change much look or feel of the OS like Android, Bluetooth file transfer is prohibited(really??? Whats the use of of putting a Bluetooth inside), the apps are too far too few, official apps like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube are missing...

Most Popular Mobile Platforms around the world

Mobile platforms, commonly known as mobile operating systems, control mobile handsets in the same way as an operating system (OS) such as Mac OS, Linux or Windows controls a desktop computer or laptop. This means additional cost (to acquire hardware), as well as additional skill development. iOS is based on the Mac OS X.  To develop programs, engineers have to use objective C for the procedural code and the Xcode designer to generate the user interface. Objective C is a lot like any modern object-oriented language and doesn't take long to master. One can c...

Nokia says Android is not the OS we are looking for

FINNISH PHONE MAKER  Nokia's newly promoted Anssi Vanjoki has written a bullish first post in which he kicks to the curb any suggestion that the firm will use Google's Android OS. Vanjoki, now Nokia's head of mobile solutions, launched into the role with a post called, "The fightback starts now", in which he set forth his firm's stance on operating systems and its plans to take battle back to the top of the mobile phone market. At the heart of this fightback is the line that Vanjoki is drawing around preferred operating systems. He believes that Nokia will benefit best from working with partners closer to home. "Symbian and MeeGo are the best software for our smartest devices. As such, we have no plans to use any other software. Despite rumors to the contrary, there are no plans to introduce an Android device from Nokia," he explained. We don't know if the Nokia human resources team tests its workers for stress, but although he's not long in ...
