Run Android apps in Windows PC or MAC OS X

Ever wanted to test out Android apps before installing them on your device or just want to use the same apps on both your Android device and your computer, check out the free BlueStacks App Player. Currently in alpha stage, BlueStacks runs Android apps in full screen on Windows 7 and comes preloaded with 10 apps, including news reader Pulse and several games like Bubble Buster. You can install up to 26 more apps, but will have to connect to the BlueStacks App Channels with Facebook. I tested BlueStacks on a tablet PC and the apps worked, though a bit slowly probably due to it being an older netbook. Having a touch interface is ideal for running Android apps on your computer, but without one you can still get a feel for an app with your keyboard and mouse. The App Player also syncs apps between your PC and your phone or tablet if you install the  BlueStacks Cloud Connect App from the Market onto your Android device. This could be useful when you want a (sort of) seamless experien

Adobe releases Free Photoshop CS6 beta with more content aware tools and 3D editing features

Adobe has released upcoming  Photoshop CS6 Beta, preview of the company’s  popular flagship digital imaging software , and bringing with it a range of new Content-Aware tools and  3D capabilities, which includes enhanced performance and the ability to change the position, color, material, shadow, and light source of a 3D image .  The most obvious change is the color scheme: Photoshop now has a dark color scheme made up of various shades of gray. It’s a more trendy look — Photoshop Elements already has it — and Adobe says that it helps the tools retreat into the background so you can concentrate on your image. Various elements such as dialog boxes, sliders and other controls are now more consistent, too.  The new Content-Aware Patch, for instance, can easily duplicate an area of an image elsewhere as a fill, while   Content Aware Move lets you drag objects or people around in a photo — and Photoshop automatically repairs the background. With the right type of image, it works remarkabl

Firefox 11 releases with 3D Debugging and Add-on sync

After some delay Mozilla has finally released Firefox 11 of its open source browser, with improved developer tools over the previous versions. The latest version takes us into some new territory - 3D.  The new "tilt" feature lets you view a 3D representation of pages in layers of related content. A new live Style Editor, meanwhile, lets them make changes to CSS style sheets and see the results instantly.. The depth of nesting of a page element is mapped to its depth in a 3D view. So. for example. a button nested in a set of divs would stand out higher than a button in the body of the page. Once you have the 3D page on the screen you can rotate it and zoom to see anything that takes your interest. You can also select any area and see the tag list that creates it just as you can in the standard 2D representation. Firefox 11 now adds the ability to sync add-ons, extensions, and browser customizations. Previously, Firefox users could sync bookmarks, passwords, preferences, hi

Remove/Disable Facebook birthdays from Android calender

Android Phones have a great calendar app built in that can pull from your Google Calendar, Exchange, PC Sync, Facebook and more. I love having all my events from different calendar's combined into my phone's calendar, but if when you combine Facebook's calendar, then your phone gets flooded with birthdays, especially if you have many friends on Facebook you don't even know. Nearly every day in my calendar was flooded because of the birthdays and unable to distinguish my important events. If you are frustrated like me with these then, there's a way to fix this and it's actually fairly simple, just a couple of steps:- Go to Settings -> Accounts & sync Uncheck Facebook calendar (in my case it was Facebook inside Xperia). Then Open you Calendar app and go to Options -> More -> My Calendars Select synced, not visible Press Ok and all that junk is gone. Note:- You might need to delete all events in some Android Phones to delete

Linux 3.3 joins hands with Android

Android has been finally merged into the newly released Linux 3.3 kernel, ending years of controversy over how blending the open-source software should be carried out, and making it more straightforward for developers to create cross-platform apps. Although Android and mainline Linux have always shared plenty of code, the underlying kernels have been separate; this new release means manufacturers will be able to simply throw their hardware-specific drivers into a Linux-based gadget and have a functional Android device. “For a long time, code from the Android project has not been merged back to the Linux repositories due to disagreement between developers from both projects” the Linux 3.3 release notes state. “Fortunately, after several years the differences are being ironed out. Various Android subsystems and features have already been merged, and more will follow in the future. This will make things easier for everybody, including the Android mod community, or Linux distros that wan

Filter out non Tablet Android Apps

For Android tablet owners, browsing the Google Play Store can sometimes be a pain, with tons of scaled-up phone apps hiding among the truly tablet-optimized. Sure, there's always the curated Staff Picks for Tablets section, but that offers only a tiny taste of all the delicious HD goodness that's really out there. Enter Tablified Market--a curated market just for tablet-specific apps. The people behind it have a strict set of criteria that an app must meet in order to be included in the database, which to us means no more phone apps in search results. For one, an approved app must be distinguishable from its phone-specific counterpart (if it has one). This means it has to take full advantage of the larger screen somehow. Also, the Tablified gatekeepers are specifically on the lookout for apps that incorporate Android's Action Bar and use the tablet-specific Fragments API. Using Tablified is as intuitive as using any other market. It lets you search for apps base
