Remove/Disable Facebook birthdays from Android calender

Android Phones have a great calendar app built in that can pull from your Google Calendar, Exchange, PC Sync, Facebook and more.

I love having all my events from different calendar's combined into my phone's calendar, but if when you combine Facebook's calendar, then your phone gets flooded with birthdays, especially if you have many friends on Facebook you don't even know. Nearly every day in my calendar was flooded because of the birthdays and unable to distinguish my important events.

If you are frustrated like me with these then, there's a way to fix this and it's actually fairly simple, just a couple of steps:-

  • Go to Settings -> Accounts & syncUncheck Facebook calendar (in my case it was Facebook inside Xperia). Then Open you Calendar app and go to Options -> More -> My Calendars
  • Select synced, not visible

  • Press Ok and all that junk is gone.

Note:- You might need to delete all events in some Android Phones to delete all Facebook birthdays.

Here is an option for those who just want friends birthdays to be shown in Android but no Facebook events.

  • Follow the above tutorial to remove Facebook sync.
  • Go to the Facebook website, click on the See All next to the birthdays on the right side of your home page.

  • Scroll to the bottom of the birthdays page and click on "Export Birthdays". Facebook will provide you with a webcal URL that you can use to import these birthdays into your Google Calendar. (i.e. webcal://www.facebook.com/ical/b.php?uid=...)

  • Open your Google Calendar. On the left side of the screen click "Add" under the Other Calendars section then click "Add by URL". Paste the webcal URL Facebook provided you here and click Add Calendar.

  • Now, go back to your phone and add this new calendar to your app. In the calendar app, click Menu Button -> More -> Calendars. Then click the Menu Button again add select "Add Calendars". The app will present you with any of your Google calendars that are not yet listed on the page, one of them being the Facebook Birthdays calendar we just added in.
